Slow Cooker Skirt Steak with Mushroom Gravy
This is one of those recipes that you really just dump everything in the slow cooker and let it cook away all day. When you come back to it 8 hours later you open the pot and find moist and tender pieces of skirt steak that has it’s own flavorful mushroom gravy!
I love that this recipe uses just four ingredients too which means I can quickly pop open a can of cream of mushroom soup, and envelope of onion soup mix and a container of pre-sliced mushrooms and mix it all up and toss it in the Crock-Pot in less than 5 minutes.
The beef really does come out tender too…like melt in your mouth tender.
And the flavor is rich and wonderful. My kids loved this recipe and devoured it.
To make this meal stretch further I like to serve the tender chunks of beef with the gravy over either white or brown rice, cooked egg noodles or mashed potatoes. This recipe is a hit with everyone and just super YUM!
Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add other seasonings to this recipe?
To keep this recipe simple we prefer the 4-ingredient recipe as written. However feel free to add other seasonings if you like. You can add sliced onion, minced garlic, garlic powder, or even use a packet of ranch dressing mix instead of the onion soup mix.
Is it better to cook this recipe on HIGH or LOW heat?
For the tenderest skirt steak possible we find cooking this recipe on LOW heat for 8 hours gives the best results. However if you are short on time cooking the steak for 4 hours on HIGH will work too, however the meat may not be quite as tender.
What is skirt steak?
Skirt steak is a cut of beef that is cut from the plate of the cow. The plate is on the underside of the cow under the ribs. This boneless cut of meat is known for its flavor rather than it’s tenderness.
Can I use other cuts of steak instead of skirt steak?
If you can’t find skirt steak you can substitute flap steak, beef tenderloin, sort loin steak, flat iron or flank steak.
